Seagull unveils the 2026 procession

Seagull Band has unveiled the shape of its 2026 procession, staged around the season theme Rethinking Our Collective Destiny. The presentation continues the band's practice of treating the parade route as a narrative stage rather than a sequence of costumes.

Work began months before the December parade. Section leads, designers and choreographers meet through a rehearsal cycle that runs for forty five days, refining the transitions that carry one movement of the story into the next.

A carnival is not a costume. It is a story that walks.

A procession in movements

The frontline opens the story, followed by mid sections that widen the theme into community, migration and return. The float anchors the final movement, lit for the night crowd along Mary Slessor Avenue.
