Seagull— For Show
Rethinking Our Collective Destiny
A Carnival Calabar band of performance, costume, culture and community. Since 2004.
A community that carries Calabar's culture into the street.
Carnival Calabar is held every December in Cross River State, with bands competing in a street procession. Seagull Band has taken part since 2004, presenting a new theme, costumes and choreography each season.
Dancers, designers, artisans and volunteers make the procession, and keep creating long after December. Before the procession comes the studio: costumes, headpieces and finishing, prepared by Seagull's designers and artisans for each season's theme.
